Results of Rural Creative Economy Research Project
The creative industries are growing faster in rural areas than in the rest of the East Midlands, with jobs expanding by 20% and businesses by as much as 25% in the past five years. This new study of the 27 most rural districts mapped trends in four areas: audio-visual, books and print, performance and visual arts. Using data supplied by the Office of National Statistics, the study maps businesses in these sectors and highlights trends between 2000 and 2005.
It was also concerned to identify areas of unusual strength or problems, and look at the
effectiveness of different forms of support. The project partners include the various creative
industry initiatives now active in different parts of the East Midland.
The study was published in November 2007 and the reports for Derbyshire are available for you
to download below.
