Arts and Health
Derbyshire Arts, Health and Mental Wellbeing Group
has been established to deliver the initial programme of work will implement the agreed
actions and undertake additional work to establish a sustainable and strategic development
framework for the arts, mental health and wellbeing in Derbyshire.
Vision
To make participation in Arts equally accessible to all mental health service users / people
with mental health problems both diagnosed and undiagnosed.
Purpose
To increase the numbers of mental health users / people with mental health problems and
others as appropriate, regularly participating in arts and creative activity - with a particular
emphasis on equality, encouraging those groups and communities who are less likely or able to
participate.
Strategic aims
To develop and agree an arts, mental health and wellbeing strategy
To develop a shared action plan to improve mental health and wellbeing through the arts and meets the need of the communities of Derbyshire and supports the achievement of the Derbyshire Mental Health Strategy and the aims of Derbyshire Arts Partnership
To work in partnership to bring in more funding for Arts, Mental Health and Wellbeing directed towards agreed priorities.
To understand the evidence base and support and develop projects that meet need.
To champion the role of the arts in promoting mental health and wellbeing at strategic level, and embed this in key strategy and policy documents
To explore the potential for how the PCT and Adult Social Services can support Arts, Mental Health and Wellbeing activity through commissioning, procurement processes and funding/development of projects and activity
To raise the profile of Arts, Mental Health and Wellbeing within all partner organisations and the wider community.
To share information, knowledge, good practice and skills between those involved in arts and mental health across the County and avoid duplication and wastage.
To ensure projects are implemented, monitored and evaluated.
Arts and Health Network
The first meeting of the Derbyshire Arts and Health Network was held in January 2010.
The event focussed on the benefits and possibilities around the arts and mental health.
