Some facts about mental health in Derbyshire
Mental Health refers to a broad array of activities directly or indirectly related to the mental well-being component included in the WHO's definition of health: "A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease".
WHO statistics for 2002 show that 154 million people globally suffer from depression, only one
form of mental illness.
1 in 4 British adults experience at least one diagnosable mental health problem in any one
year
83% of service users consulted say that a big issue for them is the impact of stigma and lack of understanding of mental health issues.
