Altered States:
Be part of the future of Black British Dance with this unique research project!
What are the needs of black choreographers in the UK?  What does the sector aspire to achieve in the 21st Century? And what do we need to put into place NOW to make it happen?
These are just a few of the questions this research will aim to answer.
Take the Space has been commissioned by State of Emergency to map and analyse the needs of *black choreographers in the 21st Century.  This research will gather important data to inform further policy and practice.
choreographers to fill in the online survey to help us build a national picture of where we are at.
See the research unfold on the website, featuring on-line blogs, interviews, case studies and the final report. Leave your contact details on the contact us page, and they will keep you informed.

DanceVote 2010
www.dancevote2010.com, the national advocacy campaign to put dance on the agenda of local political candidates. We are emailing you because we think you might be interested in getting involved too.
With a general election on the horizon - presenting a potential change of government and a very real threat to arts and dance funding - it is vital that we work together now to raise the profile of dance with MPs and new potential candidates in the run up to the election.
DanceVote has five aims:

1.       To connect every politician standing for election to parliament with a dance activity in their local area

2.       To highlight the popularity of dance among constituents and the benefits to residents

3.       To underline the need for sustained public funding in order to build on (and not undermine) the progress achieved over the past few years

4.       To champion the value of dance as an art form, as well as in health and education

5.       To secure a statement on how candidates will support dance and the arts if they are elected

DanceVote 2010 champions all dance, both professional and participatory. It is co-ordinated by Dance UK, working in partnership with a steering committee of leading dance professionals including Foundation for Community Dance representing diverse backgrounds. Please lend them your support with this campaign.
