Derbyshire Artists' Marketing Grants

A MARKETING BOOST FOR DERBYSHIRE ARTISTS

Derbyshire Arts Partnership provide Marketing Grants to new and emerging artists to help boost the county’s creative economy and both support and promote Derbyshire’s local artistic talent.

Individual professional artists and their small arts based businesses in Derbyshire are eligible to apply for this grant that provides £500 towards a wide range of marketing including new publicity material, photography, advertising and online marketing.

Please note that if you wish to apply for costs relating to web development, you must explain how it is additional to the web presence that you are able to get for free on artsderbyshire.

For instance, you may wish to add video or the ability to sell work through your existing website.  We are unlikely to fund the creation of websites where they duplicate or add little to the web presence you can gain through getting a minisite.  We also encourage you to consider the most cost effective approach to developing a web presence- if you commission a site, will you be able to maintain and update it yourself? There is good advice on developing a website for your business here: http://bit.ly/Z8FgA

The Derbyshire Artists’ Marketing Grants will prioritise new and emerging professional artists from Derbyshire and offer support to help market and develop these individuals with the aim of boosting the county’s creative economy. These grants provide a much-needed boost to artists to enable them to expand and develop by funding vital marketing activity that they may not otherwise be able to afford.

These grants build on the success of the Derbyshire Designer Maker Grants that have been available since 2004, and which supported 61 small businesses to develop new marketing material and opportunities. The Artists' Marketing Grants expanded the scope of the scheme, so that now artists working in any artform can apply.  We support visual artists, musicians, writers, dancers and performers through the scheme- your business must be arts based, and you must be based in the County.

Design Factory, a not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting the development and success of designer/makers in the East Midlands, helped us administer these grants.  Design Factory continue to administer the new grant scheme on behalf of the Derbyshire Arts Partnership.

This scoring sheet explains how the grants panel make their decisions.

We get more good applications than we have funding to support, and make decisions according to how well the applications meet these criteria.

If we have a lot of high scoring applications, we will prioritise applicants that have not received funding from Derbyshire Arts Partnership before,
and new and emerging arts businesses (those who have been trading for less than two years)
