Derbyshire Poet Laureate

Derbyshire County Council is looking to appoint the next Derbyshire Poet Laureate.

The appointment is for two years, running from October 2009 to September 2011, and the brief will include a set of commissions, workshops and events.  It is also expected that the poet will use the honorary title to seek further commissions, workshops and appearances during their tenure. The Laureate will be featured as part of the 2010 Derbyshire Literature Festival, and given a skills development bursary.

The Derbyshire Poet Laureate not only needs to be an excellent poet, but will also need to demonstrate an aptitude for working and performing in a wide variety of community settings.

Applications are welcome from poets living, working or studying in Derbyshire.
