Submitting an Art in empty shops window or exhibition proposal

Submitting an Art in empty shops window or exhibition proposal. Deadline 30-7-10 at 4pm

Derby City Council are looking for exhibitions/projects/installations/window displays... which will help them make a positive impact on the city's vacant retail spaces.  You can apply for a budget to help make your project happen.

The application deadline is Friday 30 July at 4pm.  Applications received after this time will not be accepted.

If you would like to discuss your ideas, Antoinette Burchill, Arts Coordinator will be at the Cube Café, Deda, Chapel Street, Derby on the 23 July 3–4.30pm and 28 July 2.30-5pm.  You are welcome to drop in to discuss your ideas (but please contact her at Antoinette.Burchill@derby.gov.uk to let her know you are going).

If selected, this application information will be a starting point for dialogues with the Arts Coordinator and Project Manager.  It will help them understand what you want to do with the empty shop and find a property that suits your project.

The properties they will be using will be located in Derby city centre.

In your proposal (a Word or PDF document) you MUST use the following headings and answer the questions:

1. Describe the artistic activity you would like to carry out in the empty shop OR empty shop window.

2.      Do the artworks exist, but need formatting for the space (e.g. photographs)?

3.      Define when you can or would like to start this activity.

4.      Define how long (in weeks) you would like to use the empty property for.  They need a rough idea of how long it will take to install the work, exhibit and take the work down.  You may need to clean, tidy and possibly paint the shop up on top of these times – this will depend on the state you find it in.

5.      Details on how you plan to invigilate or supervise the space (for ‘open’ shop activities).

6.      Details of how you plan to engage your audience and members of the project.  Will you put on events, workshops in the open shop?

7.      Details of how many days per week the property will be open to the public (if appropriate to your project).

8.      Your detailed budget (see the notes below)

9.      Your contact details – including phone number, email address and postal address.

10.     Six low resolution images of your work 350KB maximum per image.

11.     Your artists’ CV.
