artsderbyshire is funded and managed by Derbyshire Arts Partnership.
Derbyshire Arts Partnership is the forum for joint working on arts development between local authorities in Derbyshire.
Our Activities
- www.artsderbyshire.org.uk: the one-stop shop for arts activities and news across Derbyshire and Derby City, including a directory of Derbyshire artists and arts organisations. A scoping study which included public consultation was carried out in 2005. Futurate was appointed as the web developer and Essential New Media was appointed to manage the project in spring 2006.
- Creative Industry Strategy we developed and are implementing a strategic plan to develop the creative industries in Derby and Derbyshire, with a range of partners.
- Arts and Health development programme
- Derbyshire Dance Development Plan (Word document) - we are working in partnership with Derbyshire Sport, Derbyshire County Council Sports and Arts Consultants, Derby City Council and déda (Derby Dance Centre) to deliver the Dance Strategy and Action Plan for Derbyshire and Derby City. download the dance plan [Word document opens in new window]
- Artists Marketing Grants: small grants to support Derbyshire-based arts businesses with marketing activities. This scheme is run in partnership with Design Factory.
- Live & Local: programme of arts performances in village halls and other community venues across Derbyshire run by Live & Local.
- Derbyshire Dance Practitioners’ Network: an initiative to coordinate continuing professional development for Dance Practitioners in Derbyshire.
Derbyshire Arts Partnership has also supported
- Rural Creative Economy study: a study of recent trends in creative industries in rural areas across the East Midlands.
- Cultural Events Strategy: research and strategy work for Derbyshire and Derby City to develop the cultural offer of the region.
- Creative Arts Markets: a showcase for artists and arts organisations to demonstrate their activities, network and meet with the education sector, Local Authority officers and others who might use their skills.
- Derbyshire Open Arts : A visual arts and crafts event in artists’ showspaces and workplaces over Spring Bank holiday weekend.

Focusing
Creativity: a free support programme offering a series of workshops, specialist
mentoring and grant support designed to enable balancing creativity with running a business.
Derbyshire Film: is a scheme that uses portable cinema equipment to provide film screenings in alternative venues, particularly in areas where cinema might not otherwise be available.
DAP Members
The members of the Derbyshire Arts Partnership have contributed both funding and staff time through their Arts Development Officers to enable this site to be developed. The members are:

- Bolsover District Council
- Chesterfield Borough Council
- Derbyshire County Council
- Derbyshire Dales District Council
- Erewash Borough Council
- High Peak Borough Council
- North East Derbyshire District Council
- South Derbyshire District Council
In addition, there are two non-financially contributing, non-voting members: Arts Council England – East Midlands and Derby City Council . Both were full contributing and voting members of the original DAP until March 31 st 2007 and did financially contribute to the artsderbyshire website.
DAP Background
DAP brings together:
- The
Derbyshire Arts Officers Group (DAOG) set up in 1999, which worked on many joint projects
including rural touring, dance work, street theatre and setting up film groups across the
county.
and - The Derbyshire Arts Partnership as set up with Arts Council England and Derby City in 2004, which worked on joint projects including the artsderbyshire website, Crafts @ the Castle and Turn It Up youth music project.
