Derby Caribbean Carnival 2010

Since 1975 the Caribbean Carnival been going from strength to strength and this year begins on Saturday 17th July where it takes to the streets of Derby with their famous Procession Day. This includes talented troupes from all over the UK including London, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Luton, Bradford and Derby. The procession, complete with elaborate floats, leaves Pear Tree Community Junior School at 1.00pm, then dances its way to Derby’s Market Place at 3.00 pm, with a costume exhibition and a stage showcasing a range of artists from dance troupes to singers.
Sunday 18th July the Caribbean Carnival’s family day comes to life on Osmaston Park from 1pm. With so much to do including an international headline act, local and national artists providing music for all tastes, funfair to keep the children entertained, stalls selling Caribbean and European foods as well as arts and crafts, there really is something for everyone.
